Project relevance | Analyze the importance of participatory initiatives in the city and verify their impact and importance on the construction and experience in the city.

Project purposes | In the construction of the city, over time, some participatory initiatives were put into practice, especially at the level of urban planning. At the same time, more specific projects were being implemented where sharing the space/building was one of the underlying objectives in their preparation. In Portugal, the SAAL project is a pioneer in the combination of two components, that is, both the urban design/public space and the building emerged from participatory projects where people's involvement was a remarkable process. In recent years, some initiatives have emerged, with a non-formal nature, of small interventions in the city with participatory characteristics, namely, the new configuration of the informal participatory budget mechanism and programs such as BIP/ZIP (in Lisbon). It is our intention to indicate future paths for action and the configuration of participatory initiatives for the construction of the city.
