POST-DOCTORAL | Peripheral Territories: life stories and housing projects in Lusotopia (2019-2022)

Débora Cavalcanti (Gestual Post-PhD student . Project Africa Habitat)
PROJECT STARTING AND CONCLUSIONS DATES . September 2019 - December 2022
KEY WORDS . Urban margins, life stories, Lusotopia

RELEVANCE . The project aimed to propose a theoretical-conceptual and methodological framework to critically reflect on housing projects in the peripheral territories of Lusotopia. An analysis of the activities of GESTUAL projects were carried out in parallel with collaboration in teaching. An active participation in Africa Habitat Project allowed the design and moderation of an online talk cycle and the participation in a mission to Mozambique in 2022 to do fieldwork. Life stories of residents of peripheral territories of Lisbon, Luanda and Maputo were collected. Papers were published and two book chapters are in conclusion. Among the various results, life stories are a great help in understanding the effects of macropolitics on the daily micropolitics of the peripheral territories of Lusotopia.
