Carolino, Júlia | 2012-2022

Júlia Carolino | 2012-2022 . Concluded her Doctor of Philosophy in Social Anthropology in 2006 by Brunel University College of Business Arts and Social Sciences with the thesis Land as a Manifestation of Care. An anthropological approach to relations with the land in Southern Alentejo. After PhD, undertook research in ICAAM (University of Évora), Socius (University of Lisbon) and CIAUD (University of Lisbon) where she was involved in several international and multidisciplinary collaborations. Her main research topic have been on landscape change and social identity, in rural contexts, and on power, materiality and placemaking in urban self-built environments. Has undertaken ethnographic research in Serra Algarvia, Alentejo and Cova da Moura in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. In 2013-2014 coordinated with architect Joana Pestana Lages (University of Lisbon) the project Exploring the contributions of relational space for promoting the right to the city, funded by the FCT (EXPL/ATP-EUR/1772/2012).
